Joey Tafolla es un guitarrista americano, fue miembro en la banda de heavy metal Jag Panzer desdee 1984 a 1985, luego se unio a Sharpnel Records y grabo su primer album Out of the Sun en 1987 al mismo tiempo que otros grandes del shred sacaran sus primeros albumes (Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, Richie Kotzen, Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, etc)
Su segundo disco fue lanzado en 1991 llamado Infra-Blue, donde dejo su estilo neo-clasico visto en su primer album, demostrando un sonido orientado al rock instrumental
